The New Millennium plant in Butler, Indiana was our first plant, designed and built specifically to manufacture high quality steel joists and deck. It opened in 1999.
Much like its sister plant in Lake City, Florida, the Butler plant continues to focus on the production of unspecialized joist and deck. All of the renovations occurring at New Millennium plants position each of them to make significant improvements in productivity and efficiency. The changes occurring at the five plants will enable New Millennium to possibly triple production capacity.
Additionally, Indiana and Ohio facilities are certified in accordance with the requirements of the current IBC/Michigan Building Code, Chapter 17, Section 1705, Paragraph 2.2 |

New Millennium’s plant in Continental, Ohio is forging ahead with its general renovations in order to increase its model of plant efficiency.
Eighty percent of the original structure has already been re-roofed and re-sided. The existing building of 102,000 square feet was partially demolished to make room for a large addition that increases the size to 167,360 square feet. The project started in November of 2006 with the expansion of two existing production lines: the short span line (small size joists, like rod and crimp, angle joists that are 8 to 30 inches) and long span line (girders and anything longer than 30 inches).
Like its sister plant in Florence, South Carolina, the Continental plant has a new specialty line being added in a separate building. This new line will produce large girders, scissors joists, bowstrings, double barrel pitched joists, gable joists, and other specialty products. Additionally, Indiana and Ohio facilities are certified in accordance with the requirements of the current IBC/Michigan Building Code, Chapter 17, Section 1705, Paragraph 2.2 |

New Millennium’s plant in Florence, South Carolina has something other joist and deck companies don’t: an automated rigging table. When the renovations are complete, this plant will be among the most modern in the United States.
The plant’s main focus remains the specialty line, producing large girders, scissors joists, bowstrings, double barrel pitched joists, gable joists, and other specialty products. The plant operates its own delivery fleet to meet the challenges of delivering these products of unusual size and dimension. |

The Lake City plant was the second of the ground-up plants built by New Millennium, and produces standard joist and deck. Renovations occurring around the plant’s physical structure and internal approaches to production are slated to yield increasingly higher productivity in the next year. Environmentally friendly efforts throughout the plant on top of efficient production places Lake City in a unique position to contribute to New Millennium’s national efforts.
Additionally, the Florida facility is certified in accordance with the requirements of the current Miami-Dade Building Code, Article IV, Chapter 8 and the current Houston, Texas Building Code, Section 1704.2.2. |

In 2007 the Salem facility also underwent a major renovation across the 61-acre property. Smaller offices, tool rooms, electrical and maintenance buildings were replaced with new and renovated structures. The 89,000 square feet of the joist building was expanded with the addition of 65,000 square feet. The old corrugated grey tin siding was replaced by tan metal siding, along with new metal roofing. A new 50,000 square foot deck plant was built, along with a 34,000 square foot slitter building and a 1,800 square foot locker room/cafeteria. |
