Economical Load Design Utility

Determine Lightest and Most Economical Joist Solution for Your Project

This online utility is provided to aid designers in selecting the most economical joist for a given span and loading condition. The joist selections shown are listed based on production costs starting with the lowest cost joist for each span. Bridging and erection costs have not been considered in the joist selections. Included are K, LH, and DLH Series joists.

Total load capacities are listed for both LRFD and ASD load conditions. Live loads which will produce an approximate deflection of 1/240 or 1/360 of the span are also listed.
