COMPANY > ABOUT US
New Millennium is increasingly being named a preferred partner for commercial steel construction. Our flexible and proactive approach simplifies the process of steel building design and construction, and we aggressively look for ways to eliminate total-project costs associated with steel joist and metal decking integration. New Millennium's collaborative style best serves the interests of project owners and developers, while uplifting the professional contributions of everyone involved on the project, including fabricators, erectors, and their general contractors. Backed by six dynamic manufacturing facilities strategically located across North America, we are ready to meet your needs.
To further simplify and accelerate the steel package design process, New Millennium developed the construction industry's first building information modeling (BIM) software component for 3D steel joist design collaboration. Our FREE Dynamic Joist® digital design component has enhanced design collaboration in real-world projects since early 2010. In addition, our Special Profile Steel Joist Catalog continues to offer architects and structural engineers greatly expanded design possibilities by way of the industry's broadest specifications for special profile steel joist design.
We manufacture a complete range of standard and special profile steel joist products, including bowstring, arched, scissor, double-pitched, and single-pitched steel joists. Depending on the jobsite location, joists can be furnished as a single-piece up to 15 feet deep and 125 feet long. By using field splices to increase lengths and/or depths, the possibilities are virtually limitless.
Metal decking products include a full range of roof, form, and composite floor decks and steel deck accessories. Our manufacturing process utilizes the latest equipment and technologies for cleaning, painting, and roll-forming steel deck. Sheet-steel materials for steel deck products are readily available.
New Millennium Building Systems is a wholly owned subsidiary of Steel Dynamics, Inc. Founded in 1999 in Butler, Indiana, a second plant began production in 2005 in Lake City, Florida. Both plants have the latest technology and innovations available today. A merger with John W. Hancock, Jr., LLC and Socar, Inc. in 2006 resulted in a dynamic team of people, equipment and attitude. John W. Hancock, Jr., Inc. was the longest continuously operating steel joist company in the United States with the plant in Salem, Virginia.
All New Millennium plants have undergone extensive renovations and upgrades while maintaining or increasing production capacity.
In September 2010, New Millennium's parent company, Steel Dynamics, Inc., announced the strategic acquisition of manufacturing and office facilities in the southwestern and western United States formerly owned by Commercial Metals Corporation (CMC). Three major facilities were acquired from CMC, which has exited from the steel joist and metal decking marketplace. These plants are located at Hope, Arkansas; Fallon, Nevada; and Juarez, Mexico. By investing in a range of efficiency and capacity upgrades for these acquisitions, New Millennium has become the second largest provider of steel joists and metal decking to the nationwide U.S. market.
